Program Information

Currently, the largest and biggest population of Mid-Asian ibex is located in Tian Shan mountains, in the south-east of Kazakhstan. This amazing caprinae has really large horns, and some trophies can measure up to 58 inches (145 cm.) Some huge “big boys” are harvested each season in our hunting areas.There is no place in the world where you can find the same quality of trophies.

Depending on the shape the hunter is in, we can organize the trip in different areas: from a comfortable wood cabin near Almaty to a real expedition, with horses and fly camps. The average altitude is from 5000 feet (in Matay)  to more than 9000 feet (in Tastau and Zhasylkol areas).

Due to the large experience of Pyrenean Outfitters in this amazing country, we are able to offer you the finest hunting in Kazakhstan. We have experienced local guides, modern lodges and wood cabins with saunas, and the best hunting places. An English-speaking professional hunter will be with you during the entire trip. He will welcome you at the airport and will take care of all documents, transportation, and logistics. He will assist and act as a middle-man between you and local guides to ensure the success of your hunting.

After harvesting your trophy, PO will offer you a sightseeing tour in Almaty, the possibility of visiting some hunting stores and having a meal at national cuisine restaurants.

Hunting season

From first August until end October.

Location

We offer two different areas for ibex hunting. The main area, where you can find trophies more than 120 cms (47 inches) is in the Zungarian Alatau range. The area is located 14 hours drive from Almaty international airport. There are a domestic flight from Almaty to Usharal (highly reccomended) and then 6 hours drive to the main camp.

The second area is Matay, located at 4 hours-drive from Almaty. There you can find average trophies from 100 to 1o5 cms.

Trip plan

Tastau and Zhasylkol: 9 days’ travel with 7 hunting days.

Day 1: Flight from your country to Almaty. Overnight in aircraft.

Day 2: arrival to Almaty early in the morning, wellcome and transfer by car or domestic flight to the main camp.

Day 3 to 7: Hunting ibex.

Day 8: Transfer to Almaty. Overnight in hotel (not included in price).

Day 9: Fly home.

Matay 6 days travel with 4 hunting days

Day 1: Flight from your country to Almaty. Overnight in aircraft.

Day 2: arrival to Almaty early in the morning, wellcome and transfer by car to the main camp.

Day 3 to 6: Hunting ibex. Last day transfer to Almaty. Overnight in hotel (not included in price).

Day 7: Fly home.

Lodging

In Matay wood hunting cabins with saunas. Hunting is always from the main camp where it will be a cook, local guides, assistants and skinner.

In Tastau and Zhasylkol: First night in main camp (wood cabin with sauna). Then, overnights in tents with the support of horses, PH and assistant.

possible combinations

After harvesting your ibex, and depending of the hunting area, it is possible to hunt wolf and Siberian roe deer. We can also organize a combo Ibex/Siberian roe deer combo trip.

Additional information

Advanced payment (30% of full amount) should be wired at the time of booking. The remainder 60 days before the hunting trip.

Additional hunting days €400 each.
