Program Information
The small Republic of North Macedonia is a safe and friendly country, with hospitable people and an excellent gastronomy mixing Greek, Turkish and typical cuisine from the Mediterranean basin. It is a perfect destination for a short trip of 4/5 days, both in August, where you can combine with family vacations. But the most amazing season for the chamois hunting is from mid-October to begin of November, during the rut.
Balkan chamois is one of the 10 sub-species of chammys whose hunting is currently open, and it´s part of the Capra Grand Slam.
In Macedonia we find the highest concentration of Balkan chamois in the world. Altitude is between 1500 to 2500 meters, normally in an alpine biotope, on the border between the black pine forest and the grassy slopes. The mountains are stunningly beautiful, and the number of chamois, especially in some Reserves, is unmatched. In the Mavrovo area, which we recommend in case you want to hunt a trophy chamois: it is easy to spot more than 70 or 80 chamois in a single day.
An English-speaker translator will be permanently with the hunters from their arrival in Skopje.
Hunting season
From August 1st to December 31th. Females from October 1st to December 31th. The best time is late October, during the rut. For the combination with wolf, December is recommended.
Location
The Republic of North Macedonia is a small country and all the hunting areas are close to Skopje. Karazditza is located 50 kms away from the airport. Tetovo and Mavrovo are 100 kms.
Trip plan
Day 1: flight to Skopje. Arrival in the late evening. Welcome at the airport and transfer to accommodation.
Days 2 and 3: chamois hunting.
Day 4: transfer to the airport and flight back.
Add 1 day for the option of two chamois.
Add 2 more days for the option combined with wolf.
NOTE: Usually the best flight is by Turkish Airlines via Istanbul.
Lodging
Mountain hotels or B&B chalets with all meals included. The accommodation is comfortable, well connected and close to the hunting area. All the accommodations have Wi-Fi access. The gastronomy is excellent and typically Mediterranean, based on salads, cheeses, vegetables, meats and fish.

possible combinations
It is possible the combination with wild boar, kri-kri ibex, mouflon and red stag close tho the chamois area. Ask us for a budget if you like to extend your trip.

Any 6.5 and 7mm caliber is perfect for this hunt. 6.6×57, 6.5 Creedmoor, 270 Win, 270WSM, 7RM…. The shooting range is usually at medium-long distances, in some cases it is necessary to shot over 300 meters. Good optics with ballistic turrets are recommended.
Always remember to notify the airline that you will be flying with a firearm.
