Program Information
The alpine chamois is the most representative species from Alps. The length of its black hooked horns is bigger than the Pyrenean and Cantabrian sub-species and its winter fur, combining black, orange, and white colors, make it one of the most beautiful game animals in Europe. The hunting of an old trophy is a real challenge for the mountain hunters. We can find it in almost all the Alps mountains: France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, … Our hunting territories are located in France, close to the Nice international Airport, between High Provence and High Alps Departments. A good population, and specially, a good number of old trophies inhabits in this medium-high mountainous area, between 1500 and 2100 mt altitude.
Hunting biotope is a mix between forest and some rocky areas, combined with some grass slopes. We have 100% of success the last 5 years, and each season we harvest some medal class “boucs”.
Hunting is by stalking and the hunter must be in good physical condition, even if we have territories adapted for all kind of hunters. Some areas are perfect for bowhunting.
Alpine chamois is one of the Capra Grand Slam species, and we can organize a combo with Chartreuse chamois Pyrenean chamois and mouflon.
Hunting season
From September 15th to January 31th. Rut time is November and we highly recommend you the hunting in this month, when the old males, who are hided in the forest during the rest of the year, join the herds of females. It´s from October up to December when we harvest the biggest trophies.
Location
Our mean areas are in the 04 and 06 Departments in France, at 1,5-hours drive from Nice International Airport. A representative from our company will wait for you there and transfer the hunters to the lodge. It is possible also to rent a car and come to the lodge by your own vehicle.
Trip plan
Day 1: Meeting and greetings in the airport, transfer to the lodge, rifle testing and rest.
Day 2: Hunting chamois
Day 3: Hunting chamois.
Day 4: Hunting if necessary, transfer to the airport or another hunting area in case of combo with other species.
In our hunting areas the population and quality of chamois is very high. Usually, in one or two days the hunting is done, so this schedule may change. We can offer alternative activities for hunters and observers once the animal is harvested.
Lodging
In our main area the hunters will be lodged in comfortable bungalows in the middle of the hunting territories, where our cook will prepare for you typical alpine dishes after your hunting day, sharing a friendly ambience with your guides and assistants. In some other areas, mountain hotels or rural-tourism houses

possible combinations
Mouflon and Chartreuse chamois inhabits close to the hunting area. We can organize also extended trips for all Spanish hunting species, Pyrenean chamois in France, Alpine ibex.. ask us for a combo trip .
Additional information
Guns and ammunition
Light rifles in 6 and 7 mm calibers are the most adapted for this hunting: 6,5 Creedmoor, 270 Win and WSM, 7 mmRM, with bullets from 90 to 165 grains. Sometimes, long range shots are required, it´s important to bring good scopes with ballistic turrets.
